Construction Gallery 1

Clearing the corner of Elm and Washington to begin work on the new T&C.

Mike and Carolyn have done a lot of preliminaries all summer long,
but it's Mark Flummerfelt and Curtis Elderton
and crew that get the physical work started in late August.

It is such a shame - all that good black dirt has to go!
It won't compact enough to rebuild on a firm foundation and that we must have.

Mark is so eager for his new store -
he's been "hands on" in almost every aspect,
including running (hour after hour) the vibratory roller
which compacts the new fill dirt (317 loads) that had to be hauled in.
A few weeks later, the pad is done!
But, sadly, everything must come to a halt while
Mike, Carolyn and Mark struggle with loan problems.
CNB, Jack Goodman and SBA come to the rescue.

It is the last week in October and the sign can finally go up now -
"Future Home of Town & Country Supermarket."
On November 10 store construction begins again with footings being dug.

The rebar being prepared for the cement footings.

Another big hole being dug! This one looks good though.
It's the loading dock! Pierce City may see a new grocery store after all.

Wood moldings used to create the footings.

Smoothing the cement slab.

The cement truck with a huge attachment to pour all of the cement
necessary for the approximately 10,000 square foot slab.
